We are often asked
about residence permits in France

What advantages does a French residence permit provide?

A residence permit is a plastic card that allows a foreigner to legally reside in the country for a specified period of validity from one to four years. With this document you can freely visit other EU countries without the need for a visa. In addition, obtaining a residence permit is one of the stages on the path to French citizenship.

What conditions must be met to renew a residence permit in France?

A residence permit in France can be extended up to 5 years. To renew, you must contact the OFII at your place of residence. The set of documents for renewal is the same as for the initial registration. It is important to submit your application 60 days before the expiration date of your current residence permit. After submitting the application, a response should be expected within 2 months. You will receive a notification of readiness by mail. Refusal to renew is possible if you have committed a crime in France or any other EU country.

Can family members apply for a residence permit together with the main applicant and how to do this?

Yes, spouses and minor children can apply for a residence permit together with the main applicant if he is an investor, a financially independent person or a participant in the Passport-Talent program. To do this, you simply need to include them in your application when applying for a visa. If the main applicant does not meet these categories, relatives can use the family reunification procedure.

For what reasons can they refuse to issue a residence permit in France and is it possible to appeal this decision?

Refusal to issue a residence permit may be due to the following reasons: – Incorrectly completed or incomplete documents. – Providing false information. – Insufficient income – Violation of the laws of France, another EU country or the Schengen area. – Previously received refusal of a residence permit in other EU countries. If you are denied a residence permit, you have the right to appeal this decision within two weeks by filing an appeal with the French Migration Service. • Got a Portugal visa

Olga and Artem are happy holders of an annual visa.

The couple did not care which country they received Schengen, because they are experienced travelers, and they have already had Schengen from different countries.

We chose Portugal and were not disappointed, as visas were approved immediately for a year without any problems or difficulties.

  • received a US visa

There are already legends about the queues for a US visa in different countries, appointments for six months and a year in advance.

First, our visa manager monitored Kazakhstan for a month, then we switched to Malta - to no avail. It was possible to sign up only for Israel for August 2023.

The screenshot shows Narina’s reaction when we were able to re-record her for September 2022.

    Result: visa approved!
